Google Ad Words. A nightmare for some. A dream come true for others. PPC marketing is by far one of the most difficult ways to make money online. More people have probably lost money trying to get a hold of Google Ad Words than with anything else.
So what separates the winners from the losers?
Just one thing really. The winners kept on trying after the losers gave up. The simple reality is that when you just start out with Adwords you will probably lose money. PPC marketing can be brutal. But you have to work yourself through those tough start-up times and learn from your mistakes, because once you have master PPC advertising you will be able to make a fortune faster than you ever thought possible.
The question is how to you master Google Ad Words? Well it's not easy, but for starters you should learn everything you can about the program. Google has a great learning site for Adwords. You can find the link to it in the Resources section of this site. Study the material that Google provides you, they know what they are talking about – after all they did create it.
Now when you start your first Google Ad Words campaign you should really think about how to minimize your exposure. First do not spend more than you can afford to lose. Second set your daily budget to an amount that you can afford. If you can set it to $100 per day that is great, but you can learn just as much on a $10 per day budget. It just takes a little longer to gather information.
Secondly, for you affiliate marketers out there, play close attention to the commissions of the products that you are promoting. Do not worry so much about the percentage that the affiliate programs pays out, pay attention to the raw dollar amount. If the amount you will earn is less than $30 I can guarantee you that it will be extremely difficult to make a profitable campaign using Google Ad Words. It's not impossible, but it is very easy – especially for newbies.
Here is why: Standard conversion for affiliate products is 1%. Google Ad Words clicks will cost at least .30 - .60 cents each if you want to get a decent CTR (which you must do in order to get a good quality). So for 100 clicks you will pay at least $30. Any commission less than this will result in a loss – it is as simple as that folks. |
